Brief Life Story of Saint Nicholas
Saint Nicholas (1836-1912) was the head of the Russian Religious Mission in Japan and an outstanding preacher. Thanks to 50 years of his efforts, the Gospel and worship books were translated into Japanese; 266 congregations, which served more than 33 000 Japanese Orthodox Christians, were planted.
St Nicholas is commemorated on February 16.

Decorations
This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel covered with various shades of gold. The halo is decorated with chiseling on gesso. This icon can be additionally adorned with wrought silver, a metal or textile oklad, precious and semiprecious gemstones. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust.
