Catch Santa in your home, make the joy of Christmas last

A long, long time ago, when the world still knew no Santa - wooden, plastic, or live - there lived a goodly Christian saint named Nicholas the Wonderworker. He still hurries to help those who invoke his name in prayer. He saves them from misfortunes and sometimes from sure death. In his lifetime, people remembered him for his presents. He gave to those who were the most in need. His gifts saved many lives and delivered many people and families from dishonour. He brought relief to the grieving and food to the hungry. He gave out of everybody’s view. Knowing him, people believed in miracles.

Years and centuries passed, and the belief in miracles waned. Practicality and reason prevailed. Even at Christmas, one would hear, time and again, "Christmas? Humbug! The birth of Christ? What nonsense! Who in their right mind would celebrate Christmas?” Again, Saint Nicholas came to the people's rescue. He gave his name to Santa, and Santa went to people’s homes with bags of presents. The joy of Christmas returned. Young children still stand by their windows waiting impatiently for Santa to come to their door. Adults rejoice next to them in sweet anticipation, much like their children. A new Christmas is approaching.

Again, Santa is hurrying to our homes with his gift of joy and warmth, and you might wish to keep the happy memory of his visit just a little longer. A wooden Santa Claus might help you with this, and you can get one from our online market.

A visitor from a magic land

Our carved wooden Santas come from the workshops of Saint Elisabeth Convent. The magic hands of our artisans bring them to life. Look! An artisan is carving out the figure of a new Santa. Now, a painter takes his place. From a dazzling number of paints, he selects the ones for this Santa. He uses extra-fine brushes to lay the paint on the wood. Moments later, the face of the newborn Santa shapes out. The Russian Santa’s face is kindly and plump. The American Santa has a slight twinkle in his eye. After a few finishing touches, the wooden Santa exits our workshop. Wearing a long beard and a luxurious coat, he goes out into the world to bring a merry Christmas to the people.

Impress yourself with the variety of Santas on sale at our market. We have Santas on skis, Santas flying planes and Santas with heavy bags full of presents. Here is a Santa with a Christmas tree and lantern, and this Santa is walking with an ice-covered staff with an owl on his shoulder. Have you ever seen a Santa writing with a real feather from a goose? We have one for you. You will also love this vintage Santa: he looks as if he had just stepped out of an old postcard.
