How To Fold An Undercassock

How To Fold An Undercassock 10Jun

This Paschal season may find you travelling far and near to celebrate the joy of the Resurrection with your fellow Christians. Your undercassock might need to go with you, but how should you fold it properly so that it does not wrinkle?

In this post, we bring you some answers to this question.

To write this text, we approached our sisters from the sewing workshop for their advice. Part of their duty is to prepare the finished orders for shipment to clients all around the world. We asked them to describe how they folded an undercassock to fit it in the limited space of a parcel box while preventing it from getting crumpled.

With their guidance, we hope you can fold your undercassock to save space in your luggage (essential if you are flying) and keep it in good enough condition to use right away when you get there.

  1. The sisters recommend placing your undercassock horizontally with the face down before beginning to fold it. If you hang it vertically, your chances of getting a satisfactory result are reduced. You do not necessarily need a large table, as in the video below. A tidy floor or bed will serve just fine.
  2. To start, align the item's width, often measured between its shoulders. If the undercassock case is too small, carefully tuck the shoulders in.
  3. Spread the sleeves and fold them multiple times before you begin to align the lower part of the undercassock to the preferred width.
  4. The simplest method is to fold the cloth uniformly, stacking each layer on top of the previous one.
  5. Use your hands to gently flatten out the wrinkles that could develop during the procedure.
  6. Before packing, the undercassock must be folded lengthwise. Select the layer length to fit the undercassock in the case.

We filmed a short step-by-step guide for you and hope that you will find it useful.

Let us watch it now!

  • The method described here prevents visible wrinkles from forming on your undercassock. For optimal results, iron your undercassock immediately after unpacking it.
  • While folding your undercassock, you can also clear it of lint and tiny threads. Encircle your fingers with adhesive tape, with the sticky side facing up. After that, put the tape to the fabric with quick, light strokes.
  • The sisters advise against folding the collar since most collars are made with woven interfacing, a thick fabric that creases when bent.
  • The sisters advise keeping your undercassock in a zip-locked garment case while travelling. But remember to put the item back on a hanger when you return.

We hope this advice will enable you to go forward on the way to perfection that the Lord has set before us all.

God's speed in all your good endeavours!

Christ is risen!
