A painted icon of Holy Martyr Felix. St Felix is portrayed with a cross in his hand as a symbol of his sacrifice for the sake of spreading the Good News. He also has a red mantle on his shoulders. Red is the color of blood and martyrdom, as well as the color of life.

Brief Biography

Saint Felix was one of the seven sons of Holy Martyr Felicity who lived in mid-2nd century and came from a rich Roman family. Upon becoming a Christian, St Felicity gave all her possessions away to the poor and preached the Gospel openly together with her sons. The family refused to bow before Roman gods and was tortured. Like St Sophia, Saint Felicity also prayed to God for her sons, asking Him to make them stronger in faith. St Felix, his brothers, and his mother are commemorated on February 7.

Materials

This icon is painted using the following materials:

  • Tempera paints
  • Lime, alder, or pine board
  • Low count fabric (linen, canvas)
  • Gesso
  • Colored wax
  • Gold leaf
  • Linseed oil
  • Hide glue
  • Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic).

This icon of Holy Martyr Felix is available in several sizes:

    • 7.5×10 cm (without a hand-carved rectangular central panel, shoulder-long)
    • 11×14.5 cm (shoulder-long)

    • 40×52 cm

 

Decorations

Decorated with gold-plating of the halo, the background, and the cross in the hands of the saint, as well as other elements of the icon; chiseling on gesso. This icon of St Felix may be adorned with wrought silver, an oklad, gemstones in casts. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust.

The cost of this icon and the time it will take to make it are negotiable, depending on its size, decorations, complexity of its composition. Once it is ready, the icon will be consecrated in St Elisabeth Convent.
