The Summary about the Icon
The icon remained completely unknown until July 1878. It was in this month that a retired soldier arrived in Serpukhov in search of an icon with this name. He was initially not understood at the local Vvedensky Monastery. Nevertheless, they found a small image depicting a chalice. On the reverse side, it was inscribed "The Undrinkable Chalice".
At the request of the former soldier, a Moleben was held before the icon. He implored the Mother of God for help in overcoming alcohol addiction, which had nearly destroyed his life. Afflicted with leg paralysis, he dreamt of a stranger who instructed him to go to the icon of "The Undrinkable Chalice". How could he go, as his legs did not obey? Nevertheless, the elder continued to appear to the soldier. So the poor man set off on his journey, crawling.
In one of the villages, a compassionate woman took him in for the night and helped heal the wounds on his legs. He continued his journey, leaning on sticks. The 200-kilometre journey was rewarded with healing from illness and destructive addiction. The founder of the Vladychny Monastery turned out to be the one who appeared to the desperate drunkard in his dream.
The icon depicts a Chalice with the Savior. He is the eternal source, bringing strength, comfort, and joy. The cup of sorrow and sin can be drained to the bottom, but the cup of the Lord's Love is inexhaustible and unfading. Anyone willing to change their life, follow the commandments, and love God and neighbours, can take a refreshing sip and feel the greatness of the Lord's mercy. Rise from the depths, revive, and renew.

Materials
This icon is painted using the following materials:
- Tempera paints
- Lime, alder, or pine board
- Gesso
- Colored wax
- Gold leaf
- Linseed oil
- Hide glue
- Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)
Decorations
This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel. Some elements of the vestments are painted with various shades of gold. The background also decorated with gold-plating. This icon can be additionally adorned with wrought silver, a metal or textile oklad, precious and semiprecious gemstones. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case.

The cost of this icon and the time it will take to make it are negotiable, depending on its size and the complexity of its design. Once it is ready, the icon will be consecrated in St Elisabeth Convent.
