A painted icon of Saint Timofey of Polotsk from the icon-painting studio of St. Elisabeth Convent. St. Timofey of Polotsk—is Thorvald Kodransson, an Icelandic Viking and Christian missionary. His name is not included in the general calendar of the Orthodox Church, yet his missionary work in the lands of Belarus holds an important place in local Christian memory.

Around the year 986 (according to other accounts, in 1002–1003), he is said to have founded the first monastery and church in these lands dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, where he remained as its abbot until his repose in 1002. The monastery continued to exist until the fifteenth century

Materials

This icon is painted using the following materials:

Tempera paints
Lime, alder, or pine board
Gesso
Colored wax
Gold leaf
Linseed oil
Hide glue
Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)

Decorations

This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel covered with various shades of gold. The halo is decorated with chiseling on gesso.

This icon can be additionally adorned with wrought silver, a metal or textile oklad, precious and semiprecious gemstones. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust.

The cost of this icon and the time it will take to make it are negotiable, depending on its size and the complexity of its design.

Once it is ready, the icon will be consecrated in St Elisabeth Convent.
