Custom Orthodox Clergy Vestments & Liturgical Apparel

The Sewing Workshop of Saint Elisabeth Convent offers custom tailoring of Orthodox vestments for clergy, altar server vestments, and monastics. Our expertise includes a wide range of liturgical apparel and essential church linens. You may order liturgical vestments, church clothing, and textiles featuring intricate, highly detailed embroidery according to individual measurements, or purchase ready-made items on our website. Full sets of clergy vestments are available for order, as well as individual components such as the phelonion, epitrachelion, etc. Each garment is a result of meticulous labor and prayer.

For our sewing products, we use high-quality church fabrics of proven excellence: brocade, church silk, velvet, tapestry, linen, and polyviscose. Decorative elements may include machine and hand embroidery, handmade fringe and tassels, cannetille (goldwork embroidery), and semi-precious stones in settings.

About St. Elisabeth Convent Sewing Workshop

The Sewing Workshop is one of the oldest at St. Elisabeth Convent. Its activities began long before the establishment of the monastery, originating within the Sisterhood in honor of Grand Duchess Elisabeth. Today, the sewing and embroidery workshops are among the largest in the convent. Read more about the workshop here.

Currently, the sewing workshop primarily focuses on custom-making Eastern Orthodox clergy vestments in all liturgical colors, as well as sticharia for deacons and altar servers, monastic habits, and church furnishings. These are adorned with decorative elements crafted by the convent’s gold-embroidery and machine-embroidery masters. Clergy are offered various styles of priest vestments, bishop vestments and headwear primarily the traditional Russian style, though Greek-style vestment sets are also available by request.

Other Church Linens from the Convent

In addition to vestments, you can shop household textiles—towels, kerchiefs, rushnyks (traditional embroidered towels), decorative napkins and tablecloths for orthodox holidays—as well as baptismal sets, wedding sets, and burial sets: everything an Orthodox person needs for the most important moments of church life.

Every single purchase supports the social ministry projects of St. Elisabeth Convent.

Production techniques are constantly being modernized, and our craftswomen continuously learn new subtleties of their trade to delight customers with beauty captured in fabric. For those whose labor is blessed and daily strengthened by collective prayer and a love for their craft, nothing is impossible. The monastery often receives unusual orders that require full creative potential. For instance, our icon-framing and sewing workshops collaborated to create an icon of the Hieromartyr Flavian of Carthage and an embroidered shroud for the saint's relics.
