A recording of the performance of Festive Choir of St Elisabeth Convent. Precentor Nun Juliania (Denisova)
This choir is popular with church music lovers. All its members are musicians: choir directors, musicologists, composers, and performers, some of whom have D.M.A. degrees, awards and diplomas of international music contests, and also are leaders and soloists of various choir collectives in Minsk. They have been together as a choir conducted by Nun Juliania (Denisova) for seventeen years already.
The repertoire of the choir is based on harmonizations of ancient chants. The choir also pays attention to folk songs and canticles as a part of its missionary work. Some of these songs were written by contemporary authors and adapted for the choir by Nun Juliania herself. These songs form the major part of this live recording.
