Description
Saul, also known as Paul after his conversion, was not a disciple of Christ during Jesus' lifetime. He originated from Tarsus, Asia Minor, a Jew who possessed Roman citizenship alongside many other residents. He was educated and received official authority to actively persecute Christians in Palestine and beyond its borders.
However, he discerned a calling from Christ while on the road to Damascus. A blinding light struck Saul, causing him to fall to the ground. A voice boomed from heaven, asking, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?" Saul, bewildered, inquired, "Who are you?" The voice responded, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting."
The Lord instructed Saul to journey to Damascus, where he was baptized three days later. Miraculously, his sight was restored during the baptism. Remarkably, the man once fiercely devoted to persecuting Christians became equally zealous in preaching about Christ.
Saul's newfound faith, however, infuriated the Jews, forcing him to flee to Jerusalem. There, he found refuge among the Christians and connected with the apostles themselves.
From Jerusalem, Paul embarked on his first missionary journey. Throughout his ministry and preaching, he penned fourteen letters, known as epistles.
Despite facing numerous arrests. After his final arrest, he met his end not through crucifixion, like many early Christians, but by the sword, a penalty reserved for Roman citizens rather than slaves.
Commemorated on July 12.

Decorations
This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel covered with various shades of gold. The halo is decorated with chiseling on gesso. This icon can be additionally adorned with wrought silver, a metal or textile oklad, precious and semiprecious gemstones. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust.
The icon decoration (semi-precious stones) is not included in the price.
Price & Deadlines
The cost of this icon of St Paul and the time it will take to make it are negotiable, depending on its size and the complexity of its design. Once it is ready, the icon will be consecrated in St Elisabeth Convent.
