The icon of Theotokos of Three Hands is known since the 9ᵗʰ century. It received its name thanks to a silver image of a human hand ― a gift, which St John of Damascus gave to the Mother of God, thanking her for her miracle.
Commemorated on July 11 and July 25.
This icon is painted using the following materials:

- Colored wax
- Gold leaf
- Linseed oil
- Hide glue
- Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)

This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel. The background, halos, and other elements of the icon are decorated with various shades of gold leaf.
