Matrona was born into a peasant family in 1881. She entered the world without sight, for she had no eyes beneath her closed eyelids.
From her earliest years, she loved attending Divine Services, and by the time she was eight, she had begun to heal the sick and foretell future events.
At 18, Matrona lost the use of her legs. She never walked again, yet she refused to complain, carrying her troubles with patience and calm. In 1925, the righteous woman moved to Moscow, where kind souls took her in and looked after her needs.
Throughout her life, right up until her death, the saint devoted herself entirely to others. People flocked to her for spiritual and physical healing, and this constant stream of visitors never ceased. On 2 May 1952, Matrona departed into eternity.
On 8 March 1998, her incorrupt relics were transferred to the Danilov Monastery and then to the church within the grounds of the Pokrovsky Stavropegial Monastery in Taganka, Moscow. There, the faithful can venerate them daily.

This icon is painted using the following materials:

- Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)

Decorations
This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel covered with various shades of gold. The halo is decorated with chiseling on gesso. This icon can be additionally adorned with wrought silver, a metal or textile oklad, precious and semiprecious gemstones. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust.
The icon decoration (semi-precious stones) is not included in the price.
Price & Deadlines
The cost of this icon of St. Matrona of Moscow and the time it will take to make it are negotiable, depending on its size and the complexity of its design. Once it is ready, the icon will be consecrated in St Elisabeth Convent.
