A painted icon of Holy Right-Believing Prince Dmitry Donskoy. Saint Dmitry is portrayed wearing the prince's attire and holding a church in his hand to symbolize his zeal for building new churches and monasteries. Commemorated on June 1.

Materials

This icon is painted using the following materials:

Lime, alder, or pine board
Gesso
Colored wax
Gold leaf
Linseed oil
Hide glue
Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)

Decorations

This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel. The halo is decorated with wrought silver. The background and several other elements of the icon are decorated with gold leaf. This icon of St Dmitry can be additionally adorned with wrought silver, a metal or textile oklad, precious and semiprecious gemstones. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust.
