Christmas wooden figurines for a brighter feast

Many years ago, most Christmas tree hanging ornaments were wooden. Only recently did they begin to make them from other materials. The toys became lighter and shinier, but, sadly, less durable. Every so often, one could find their favourite magic bauble broken to pieces and the wonderful glass come apart. Unlike them, wooden figures would serve for many decades and many generations.

The artisans of Saint Elisabeth Convent have kept the old tradition of making Christmas hanging crafts from wood.

Gift from a fairy-tale

Our Christmas wooden figurines are like characters from a fairy tale brought alive to you by our artisans. Meet the ballerina. She is dancing the waltz amid the green branches as if she had been practising ever since they invented the dance. Different artisans have made their ballerinas of glass, porcelain or wool. Our ballerinas are wooden, and they dance like a virtuoso. Here is another hanging ornament - a wooden Christmas tree. It is small but richly decorated with glass pearls and textile fabric details. Only 5 to 10 centimetres tall, it is a miniature masterpiece.

Every Christmas figurine has a story to tell, but all share a common history. It was made by hand at Saint Elisabeth Convent by the loving hands of our workshop artisans. Each travels a long way to arrive at your home and join your family of Christmas ornaments. Our painters have decorated them with images from our childhood that warm our hearts. Each brings the joy of Christmas to the vulnerable and destitute: part of the proceeds from your every order goes to support the Convent's charitable projects.
