“I don’t want to get old!” or How to Treat Aging and Beauty Right

Yasmina Rossi, 64-year-old model

Another controversial topic is rejuvenation. Women wish they were not getting old. Now science has stepped far forward in the field of the development of cosmetology and cosmetics. Over the past few years, personal care products have appeared that could not even be fantasized about before. All this is expensive, but it works efficiently. A woman who has tried Korean cosmetics is unlikely to be able to refuse it – the effect is so noticeable. What shoul be done then, because sometimes it becomes addictive?

I believe that the best way to take care of yourself was and remains a healthy lifestyle. Do you want to look young and slim for a long time? I give simple advice: eat less, move more, and you will be happy. Neither liposuction nor injections will be needed. It’s no secret that transnational corporations such as McDonald’s raise tremendous money both in the sale of junk food and in the sports industry. They do not preach the principle of “eat less”, but “eat what you want, and then get rid of everything in the gym”. They tell the “secret secrets of successful success” in terms of weight loss and diets, but this is elementary: if you cut back on food, weight is reduced. Now you can find any information, subscribe to sites where they will teach you how to get in good shape with minimal costs. You just need to work hard a little bit. However, we often follow the path of least resistance.

If we talk about the spiritual aspect of rejuvenation, I think that a believer does not desperately cling to his or her temporary life and his or her appearance. We all understand that one day we will have to come to the line, and how wonderful those who courageously and calmly accept their aging! Why get carried away by modern cosmetic technology? To be bait for men? To die with less wrinkles? Common!

So what should be done then? Not to care of youself? – but after all, any man is pleased to see a beautiful well-coiffed woman next to him. On the other hand, cosmetics are not cheap today, is it acceptable to spend money on them?

If a woman cares of herself to please her husband – why not? I have heard the reproaches of Muslim women against ours: they say that the Slavs are wierd, because they dress up, do makeup and hair when they go out, and at home they wear a bathrobe and a tired face, and they are always yelling “you all really got me, leave me alone”. I think one need to care of oneself, but without fanaticism. We must try to have adequate attitude to life, to understand that we cannot change and deceive its course. We must courageously look forward and to go our own path in a dignified way, as millions of people did before us. It is also necessary to shift the emphasis from external issues to spiritual ones. The words of the Apostle Peter are always relevant: “Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price” (1 Peter 3:3-4).

I have heard such a characteristic of a good wife: she must be kind and cheerful. If the husband sees his wife like this, this is a sign to him that everything is fine in the family, he is doing everything right, he has a happy relationship, love. That is the most important thing. At a seminary, one professor told us: “Guys, you still have to get married, to become priests. Understand that external beauty can be attractive, but after six months of living together, you will cease to notice it”. This is very true: the external quickly becomes boring, becomes daily routine. A person does not live with a face, but with a soul, inner world, qualities of character, habits.

I do not mind that our dear and beloved women use makeup or dye over gray hair, but you should not wear lipstick when you go to church. They kiss the icons with these lips, and they kiss the cross, and we have to wipe it all off after this. You must always be aware of what you are doing and for whom. On the other hand – if you see a girl or a woman at church wearing lipstick or inappropriate clothing – do not make remarks. People, as a rule, come to church with pain, so you need to treat those who come there with sincere attention, listen to them and help. Everyone should leave church with a lightened heart, comforted – our Christian love is manifested in this.

In conclusion, I want to remind you: in order to be attractive, a woman needs not only to deal with her face, but also to develop herself. Spouses should talk – it is important that a woman has something to talk about. Sometimes you can hear what and how some beauty queen speaks – and you are terrified, and no beauty can help here. So, whatever one may say, the point is not in the beauty of a woman’s face, but still in the beauty of the soul, first of all. It transforms the appearance, glows from the inside and really adorns everything. Therefore, to be beautiful, you need to read smart books, engage in self-education and live a spiritual life. And get a bit of exercise. Everything is easy!
