Practical Tips: Spiritual Electric Point and Christian Morality

Christian morality in a very rough way means that people should feel better being near to you than away from you. This is the task that God assigns to us. What God really calls us to is in the area that we can see after turning off the TV.

– Fr. Anthony Lakirev

The Church for us is our “recharger”, spiritual “battery”, or “spiritual electric point”. Almost every one of you has a cell phone in your pocket, and you know that it constantly needs to be recharged, otherwise it will not work at the moment you will need to get in touch, because the battery will be dead. The same way we get discharged if we miss one or two Sunday services. Your connection with God does not work. And it is not His but your fault that your spiritual battery is discharged. Many of us do not know exactly how a phone works – what is happening there, how it is charged and how it is discharged. But everyone knows that it is necessary just to plug in, and it will all sort itself out. The same way we should just drag our “relics”, our body, to church. Even if a person does not understand much in service, its chants and prayers, his soul is really nourished.

It is impossible to do it outside church, at home for example. Therefore, the Lord says: “Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God” (Exodus 20:9,10).

Think about it: we live once, but our soul is eternal. And we write our “book of life” immediately on a fair copy, there is no draft, you will not be able to rewrite it. And we must cherish the time that the Lord has given us.
