CD The All-Night Vigil
The All-Night Vigil is a service of the daily cycle held on the eve of feasts and Sundays. It consists of a combination of the Great Vespers, feast or Sunday Matins, and the First Hour. A blessing of bread, wheat, wine, and oil sometimes happens during the Vespers as a part of the All-Night Vigil. The name “All-Night Vigil” has its roots in a custom of the Ancient Church to stay awake and pray all night until dawn. All-Night Vigil is celebrated with special solemnity.
The All-Night Vigil CD album features Greek, Valamo, znamenny and other chants performed in two parts by the Monastic Choir of St Elisabeth Convent.
