A painted icon of St John the Baptist and Forerunner of our Lord.

Commemorated on March 9, June 7 (uncovering of his head), July 7 (the saint's birthday).


This icon is painted using the following materials:

  • Acrylic or tempera paints
  • Lime, pine, or alder board
  • Gesso
  • Colored wax
  • Gold leaf
  • Linseed oil
  • Hide glue
  • Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)
