IMP-03-01-36 St John the Baptist
A painted icon of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist.
The saint is depicted holding a scroll in his hand, which reads, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is nigh."
Commemorated on March 9, June 7 (uncovering of his holy head), and July 7 (the saint's birthday).
This icon is painted using the following materials:
- Acrylic or tempera paints
- Lime, alder, or pine board
- Colored wax
- Gold leaf
- Linseed oil
- Hide glue
- Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)

This icon has a hand-carved rectangular central panel. The background is decorated with gold leaf. We recommend placing this icon in an opening or a non-opening icon case to protect it from humidity fluctuations and dust. The inscription on the icon can be written in any language.
