Mosaics are used for decorating the interior and exterior of a church. Artists who specialise in mosaics must master various techniques and be comfortable with the technology of gold smelting. Works may range from fragments such as ornamental inlays and other decorative elements up to complete compositions, including the interior of a dome or apse. Restoration of old mosaics may also be performed. Presently, our mosaic workshop has been experimenting with the ancient and long-forgotten technique of encaustic painting (application wax-based paints to metal, wood or plaster).
