A painted icon of the Resurrection of Christ. According to the Orthodox tradition, the Resurrection of Christ is depicted by showing His descent into the Hell. Jesus Christ in all His glory tramples the broken gates of Hell. Adam and Eve, King David and King Solomon, St John the Baptist, as well as other righteous men and prophets of the Old Testament are standing at his right and his left.


  • Natural wooden board (lime, pine, alder) with oak splines
  • cloth from low-count fabric (linen, canvas)
  • gesso
  • acrylic / tempera paints 
  • gold leaf of various hues
  • tinted wax
  • linseed oil
  • hide glue
  • varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic).


Available in the following sizes: 40×52 cm.

Decorated with gold-plating of the background, the margins and the halo. The icon may also be decorated with a thin metal sheet with wrought ornaments or an oklad made from tin foil.

The icon of  the Veneration of the Three Wise Men may also be placed into an icon case made of oak or birchwood.

The price and the time it will take to paint such an icon are negotiated in advance and depend on its size, complexity, decorations, and gold content.

This icon is consecrated in St Elisabeth Convent
