IMP-02-04-14 St Nicholas the Wonderworker
A painted icon of St Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was the Archbishop of Myra in Lycia. This is a shoulder-length icon of St Nicholas, so his face takes up almost all the surface of the icon board. The halo touches the upper margin, as if it sticks up towards the viewer.
Commemorated on December 19, May 22 (translation of his holy relics to Bari, Italy), August 11 (the saint's birthday).
This icon is painted using the following materials:

- Lime, alder, or pine board
- Colored wax
- Gold leaf
- Linseed oil
- Hide glue
- Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)
