IMP-02-01-13 Mother of God of Kazan
A shoulder-length icon of the Mother of God of Kazan.
This icon was miraculously found after a fire in Kazan in 1579. It is one of the most highly venerated icons of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Feast days: July 21, November 4
This icon is painted using the following materials:
- Acrylic or tempera paints
- Lime, pine, or alder board
- Colored wax
- Gold leaf
- Linseed oil
- Hide glue
- Varnishes (mordant, kauri gum, acryl-styrolic)

A hand-carved rectangular central panel. The margins, the halo, the background and other elements of the icon are covered with gold leaf.
