The history of this icon is noteworthy. The Shroud of the Lord was preserved in the Theotokos Basilica in Blachernae since the 5^th century. This great holy object was exhibited every Friday, folded so as to reveal the waist-long image of Christ. However, people were not allowed to kiss it, which was why they painted a similar image of Christ in the Tomb. This icon is available in several sizes.
