041-XC Christ the Pantocrator

This icon of Christ the Pantocrator is a lacquered icon on wood. A replica of an Ancient Russian icon painted in the first half of the XVI century. This icon shows Jesus holding the Gospel opened on the page where we can read in Church Slavonic, "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment, for with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again" (John 7:24, Matthew 7:2). As the righteous Judge, Jesus sets an example for human judges and the humankind in its entirety: you should be just because each of you will be judged for what you've done at the Last Judgment.
