A Hymn of Glory to the Trinity<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\n
Glory to God the Father<\/div>\n
And to the Son who reigns over all.<\/div>\n
Glory to the Spirit, All-Holy,<\/div>\n
To whom praise is fitting.<\/div>\n
This is the Single God, the Trinity,<\/div>\n
Who created all things that are;<\/div>\n
Who filled the heavens with spiritual beings,<\/div>\n
The land with earthly creatures,<\/div>\n
The oceans, rivers, springs,<\/div>\n
With all aquatic living things.<\/div>\n
Out of his own Spirit he gives life<\/div>\n
to all that lives (Ps. 104.30; Jn. 6.63)<\/div>\n
So that all created life can sing out praise<\/div>\n
To the wisdom of the Maker;<\/div>\n
That single cause of their existence,<\/div>\n
Their continuing subsistence.<\/div>\n
But more than all other things,<\/div>\n
And in all things,<\/div>\n
Rational nature must sing out<\/div>\n
That he is the Great King, Good Father.<\/div>\n
And so, my Father, grant to me<\/div>\n
In spirit and in soul, in heart and voice,<\/div>\n
In purity of heart (Mt. 5.8)<\/div>\n

A Hymn to the Divinity<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\n
You stand above all things that are.
\nWhat other way could we rightly begin to sing of you?
\nHow can words chant your praise
\nWhen no word can ever speak of you?
\nHow can the mind consider you
\nWhen no thought can ever grasp you?
\nYou alone are unutterable
\nFrom the time you created all things that can be spoken of.
\nYou alone are unknowable
\nFrom the time you created all things that can be known.
\nAll things cry out about you
\nthose which speak, and those which cannot think;
\nFor there is one longing, one yearning,
\nThat all things have for you (Rom. 8. 22-23).
\nAll things pray to you, that comprehend your plan,
\nAnd offer you a silent hymn.
\nIn you, the One, all things abide
\nAnd to you all things endlessly converge
\nWho are the end and goal of all.
\nYou are One, and All, and None of these.
\nYou who bear all names,
\nHow shall I ever name you?
\nYou who can never be named?
\nWhat heavenly mind can ever penetrate
\nthose veils above the clouds?
\nBe merciful, You who stand above all things.

I
\nNow it is time to bless you
\nMy Christ, the Word of God,
\nLight of Light that has no beginning,
\nSteward of the Spirit
\nAnd of that threefold light
\nThat gathers in one glory.
\nYou it is who set loose darkness,
\nAnd you who brought forth light,
\nThat you might make all things in light.
\nYou set fast unstable matter,
\nForming it into a world
\nAnd into the good order we now have.
\nYou enlightened the mind of Man
\nwith reason and with wisdom
\nAnd thereby placed an Ikon here below
\nOf that brightness which is above,
\nThat Man may see the light by light
\nAnd so become entirely light.
\nYou it was who lit up the heavens
\nwith lights of many hues.
\nYou it was decreed that night and day
\nShould gently yield to one another
\nHonouring that law of brotherly and sisterly love.
\nIn Night you give us respite
\nFrom the cares of our much burdened flesh.
\nIn Day you raise us up to work
\nAnd to deeds that are pleasing in your sight;
\nSo that fleeing from all darkness
\nWe might hurry into the day,
\nThe day you liberate from all the gloom of night.
\nBut for now, send a light and restful sleep upon my eyes
\nSo that the voice of praise may not be silenced long;
\nFor as the angels take up that song,
\nYour work is never stilled.
\nNow let this reverent time of repose
\nBe also a scrutiny of soul before you,
\nSo that the night may not reproach us
\nWith defilements of the day,
\nAnd that the follies of the dark
\nShould not affright our dreams.<\/div>\n
But let the mind, freed of the body,
\nStill speak with you, O God;
\nThe Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
\nTo whom be glory, honour and might
