Let's turn to the sermon of Saint Caesarius of Arles:

"Jacob wrestled with the angel because the Jewish people will contend with Christ until His very death. However, not all Jews, as we have already mentioned, did not believe in Christ; a significant portion of them, as we can read, believed in His name, and thus the angel touched the socket of his hip, and he began to walk with a limp. The leg on which he began to limp represents the Jews who did not believe in Christ; while the leg that remained unharmed signifies those who accepted Christ the Lord. Finally, note that in this contest, Jacob both prevailed and demanded a blessing. By Jacob's victory, we see the Jews who will persecute Christ; by his seeking a blessing, we see those who will believe in Christ the Lord."

Wow! For the first time I understand the issue between the Angel & Jacob who became Israel, for the very name Jacob is roote in deception.

Likewise do we the Caled out ones wrestle with God before He saves us? Do we really gain power over the Lord or does He allow us to prevail?

Maybe I don't understand as I thought.
So the thigh the sinew is injured & represents the Jewish peoples struggle?
