That, and about two dozen other paintings were commissioned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of artist Harry Anderson in the 1960s and 70s. The first was Christ Blessing the Apostles for the World’s Fair. The Church was so pleased with his work, more paintings (including the one above as well as a well-known depiction of the Second Coming of Christ) were commissioned. Anderson was not a Latter-Day Saint, but a lifelong Seventh-Day Adventist.
